Among the new resources added to the holdings of the Loest Research Library are two censuses taken in early Ebenezer, GA. These enumerations are listings of those present in Ebenezer in 1739 and 1741, and they were made by Pastor Boltzius. The original copies in old German script are in the Francke Foundations, Halle, Germany.

Are your ancestors in these lists? Volunteer staff are available in the library to assist researchers and visitors to the library in finding original records of ancestral interest — records with various forms of information in 18th century sources. The library is open Saturday afternoons during the regular Museum opening time, 3:00 to 5:00 PM, and at other times by appointment (contact Barbara Scott 912-660-1786 or [email protected]; or Vince Exley, 770-926-3334 or [email protected] ).

We continue to add new books and sources to our holdings. Among new materials currently being added are copies of old newspaper obituaries and marriages from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
