Dr Arlin C Migliazzo
Dr Migliazzo is Professor of History at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, where he has also served as Department Chair and Director or Faculty Development. He is a former Fulbright/Hays Scholar in American Studies and the editor or” Teaching as an Act or Faith: Theory and Practice in Church-Related Education “and ” Lands or True and Certain Bounty: The Geographical and Colonization Strategies or Jean Pierre Purry “. Dr Migliazzos fascination with Purry led to a choice or Purrys colonization or Purrysburg Township as the theme for his PhD Dissertation. Upon approval or the Dissertation, his Advisory Board strongly recommended that he further edit the work in form of a published book. The result is” To Make This Land Our Own: Community, Identity, and Cultural Adaptation in Purrysburg Township, South Carolina, 1732-1865 &: 2007 University of South Carolina Press . At the Georgia Salzburger Society Heritage Day Meeting on Labor Day 2016,
Dr Magliazzo will honor us with a presentation covering the settlement of Purrysburg and its cultural relationship with the subsequently settled Ebenezer by our Salzburger ancestors. Hope to see all of you there.
