Salzburger’s Removed From Ga History? CONFIRMED
READ UPDATE HERE
May 7th, 2016
Based on discussions with the Project leader, the only way to correct this issue is to use the survey below. You can put as much justification as you want (1 word to 40 pages). Only your responses will make them evaluate putting Salzburgers/Germans, etc. back into the new core history. You may use information on our web site http://www.georgiasalzburgers.com
and
http://archive.armstrong.edu/Initiatives/history_journal/history_journal_success_and_failure_of_ebenezer for justification.
Please respond asap, the survey is open until March 14. The Georgia Board of Education current draft removes the word Salzburger from the text required for Georgia Education. This is the first standards update in 8 years. If we are unsuccessful, it will be another 8 years to correct this travesty. Student generations will not know and teachers will not know.
Removing the word “Salzburger” also disqualifies (removes) any school trips to Ebenezer for educating Georgia students and teachers.
The first link below is a survey in which people can go in and comment that the Salzburgers need to be reinstated as part of the standards. The second is a link to a Crossswalk of the standards. See figure below…. (The first column shows the standards that are being taught now. The second column is the proposed standards. If you look on page 65 you will see the now standard that includes the Salzburgers (SS8H2b) and that it is no longer included in the proposed standards.)
Please read the changes and take the survey below. Please also email your opinion to your representatives, etc.
